The Ruborians

Pyro comes from Ruboria, a world composed entirely of resplendent ruby. The Ruborians are an ancient and noble species, their skin formed of interlocking crystal that throws a fiery red glow — and behind the glow, a power that forces anyone who meets their gaze to relive their worst fear. It made them the most feared beings in the universe. Pyro left rather than become one of them.

Abilities

Each PUFF holds abilities of its own, the powers it uses to stay out of reach of the people hunting it.

Nightmare Gaze

Anyone who meets Pyro’s gaze is forced to face their darkest fears and most haunting traumas — an immediate distress that often leaves lasting psychological scars.

Reflective Terror

The ruby surface of Pyro’s body reflects light in intense, blinding flashes, disorienting anyone in front of him and buying him the distance he needs.

Heat Manipulation

Pyro can absorb and control heat, releasing it as devastating fiery blasts or waves severe enough to drive an enemy back.

Guardian of the flames

Pyro is intense and reserved, and often reads as distant. He carries the weight of what he can do seriously, fully aware of the fear and the damage he is capable of causing. He is fiercely protective of his home planet and the people he loves, and he uses his abilities only when there is no version of the day left where he does not. Beneath the hard exterior is a compassionate heart and a straightforward wish to protect people who cannot protect themselves.

The gaze he will not use

Pyro could end almost any confrontation by looking up. He does not. On Earth he keeps his eyes down and his hood up, and treats that restraint as the only part of himself he actually chose.
